The Problem
How can we make it easier for people to understand and follow the process of installing solar panels at their homes?
We wanted to help homeowners, installers, and project managers stay updated on what’s happening, share information, and keep track of important steps, such as assessing the site and activating the system. This app clarifies communication and ensures a smoother solar installation experience.
Team Alignment
Creating this app required a collaborative effort between sales, marketing, product development, and engineering. The sales organization had a lot of insights into the customers mindset at the beginning of the process while operations had valuable insights into customer mindset throughout the process. Marketing helped with the overall tone and guiding the style of the app.
Process Lists
This app simplifies the solar panel installation process by providing step-by-step checklists for homeowners, ensuring their homes are ready for installation, guiding the installation process, and helping homeowners start producing solar power efficiently and sustainably.
There are three checklists (home preparations, solar installation, start producing power) which each have a list of things for the customer to do and for the company to do.

Results
We analyzed the NPS score of customers who downloaded the app versus those who didn’t.
The scores for the app users was significantly higher than those who didn’t have the app (20% as of the last time we pulled the numbers). This helped us focus more on the customers and prioritize work on the mobile app.
